KALA was born by the love of our founder Paula Balmori to mix all her passions in one: Architecture, Spain and a Purpose.

Architecture:

As an architect, Paula always enjoys wearing memorable statement pieces that are sustainably conscious. That is why she wanted to start a jewelry line of rings that wold use sustainable materials and would support the 1% initiative.

Spain:

She grew up in Spain, where Extra Virgin Olive Oil called liquid gold is one of the great gastronomic treasures of the country, a privileged good that is also used to create nurturing beauty products. This lead to the first line of KALA where we partner with a family-owned sustainable Olive Oil Ranch company, to produce the first ….

Every Anise piece has a history — from the relationship with the artisan, to the life of the wearer. We design each of our collections with the intention of creating pieces that can be passed down through generations, with minimal waste and minimal carbon footprint. Our jewelry is all made by local artisans based in Santa Fe, New Mexico, with expertise in traditional methods of crafting jewelry by hand.
